The two basic requirements for a healthy scalp are cleanliness and stimulation. The Tesla Scalp Treatments we offer include brushing for scalp exfoliation (with a boars bristle brush) the Tesla High Frequency application, (picture below) scalp massage therapy, heated scalp ointment, and a ph balanced shampoo and conditioner.

Correct hair brushing stimulates the blood circulation to the scalp; brushing helps remove dust, dirt, and hair-spray buildup from the hair and gives hair added shine. To be effective, a shampoo must remove all dirt, oils, cosmetics, and skin debris without adversely affecting either the scalp or hair. I recommend brushing the hair several times a day if necessary. The best brushes for the hair and scalp are boars bristle brushes. The scalp and hair need to be cleansed regularly to combat the accumulation of oils and perspiration that mix with the natural scales and dirt to create a breeding ground for disease-producing bacteria. Hair should only be shampooed as often as necessary. Excessive shampooing strips the hair of its protective oil (sebum) that, in small amounts, seals and protects the hair’s cuticle. As a general rule, oily hair needs to be shampooed more often than normal or dry hair. I want to explain about the importance of pH balanced shampoos and with all the shampoos available, I totally understand how hard it must be to choose. These photos

Understanding pH levels will help you select the proper shampoo. The amount of hydrogen in a solution, which determines whether it is alkaline or acid, is measured on a pH scale that has a range from 0 to 14. The pH of a neutral solution, one which is neither acidic nor alkaline, is 7. A shampoo that is acidic will have a pH ranging from 0 to 6.9; a shampoo that is alkaline will have a pH rating of 7.1 or higher. The more alkaline the shampoo, the stronger and harsher it is. A high pH shampoo can leave the hair dry, brittle, and porous. A high pH shampoo can cause fading in color treated hair. A slightly acidic shampoo more closely matches the ideal pH of hair.

Hair and skin pH is five. Look on the labels for the pH if it’s available. We offer Joico and and most of Joico products have the pH on the bottles.

As far as hair loss, the only FDA approved products are Finasteride, and Minoxidil.

They work, however the pill has side effects. Minoxidil is in shampoos and scalp lotions. This is what is says on WebMD: Rarely, this medication can be absorbed through the skin and cause side effects. Stop using this medication and tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: unwanted facial/body hair, dizziness, fast/irregular heartbeat, fainting, chest pain, swelling of hands/feet, unusual weight gain, tiredness, difficulty breathing especially when lying down.

Recently I read that anything put on topically after 26 seconds can absorb into your bloodstream. Don’t get steampunk-ed! Get Steampunk Hair Salon education! Continued soon!
